Community in Action: Brenda Anz and Women Unlimited SA Recognized by La Prensa

Tommy Calvert Back to School Extravaganza

Great things happen when people come together with one goal: making a difference.

Women Unlimited SA was recently featured in La Prensa for its partnership with Commissioner Tommy Calvert and Precinct 4 during the Backpack Extravaganza, an initiative supporting East Central students and families with essential school supplies.

For Brenda Anz, Founder and CEO of Saving Our Way and Founder & Executive Director of Women Unlimited SA & Women Unlimited International, the recognition represents something bigger than a feature, it reflects a commitment to turning leadership into meaningful community action.

More Than Business - It’s About Community

While Women Unlimited is dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs and small business owners, its impact reaches beyond business. Supporting families, creating opportunities, and building stronger communities are all part of that bigger vision.

The Backpack Extravaganza brought that vision to life with the help of Board Members, Advisory Board Members, volunteers, community partners, and Women Unlimited SA interns who contributed their time and energy.

Special thanks go to Commissioner Tommy Calvert and his team for their partnership, La Prensa and Ramon Chapa Jr. for highlighting the story, and Head Volunteer Frank N. Kay Gutierrez for his leadership throughout the event.

Impact Starts With Showing Up

For Brenda and the teams behind Saving Our Way, Women Unlimited SA, and Women Unlimited International, community impact isn’t measured only by recognition. It’s measured by the people supported, the connections created, and the opportunities opened for others.

The La Prensa feature is a wonderful milestone, but even more importantly, it’s a reminder of what’s possible when a community shows up for one another.
